Joe Budden’s upcoming “Padded Room” album will drop on October 28 on Amalgam Digital.
The album will be available in stores worldwide in both physical CD and digital format.
Two bonus tracks will be available for buyers who purchase the digital version from the www.AmalgamDigital.com digital retail store.

The music video for the first single “Touch & Go” will air nationwide on all video outlets in September.

illRoots.com: So first off thanks for the time its always a pleasure

Sam: no prob brother!

illRoots.com: How did you come up with the name “Chaunce” ?

Sam: Well…our company is operated by 3 friends and we all came up together. Basically, way back in the day, one of our friends used to make up nicknames for people. He had a new nickname seemed like every day for somebody else. One day he must have decided it would be easier to call everyone he knew by the same nickname, and so he went with ‘Chaunce’. All of a sudden everyone we kick it with is answering to Chaunce this or Chaunce that. This was a while back, like in middle school. So when we started our line we wanted our name to represent what we had gone through to get here. “Chaunce” seemed like the obvious choice. 3 friends that been together for a long time. That’s where it all started.
Kinda crazy I know.

illRoots.com: Okay, so Chaunce Clothing in One Word? and why?

Sam: hmmmm….. one word? that’s a tall order. Let me give it a go.. I would say the word that most closely represents Chaunce is ‘Grind’. We are always on our grind. This industry can be cold hearted at times, but we trudge through the crap to get to the gold. You dig? We operate our line entirely in house. We do all the designs, we screen print every piece, we do all the distributing and we handle all the marketing. We Grind everyday.

illRoots.com: So why the Gorilla?

Sam: Silverback gorillas are very protective of thier families, intimidating in size, and fierce warriors when a threat is presented. They are also a dying bread. We felt that the Gorilla was an excellent comparison to our core values. And we also want to honor an animal that is notoriously mis-understood and feared.

illRoots.com: So what is it about a clothing line that has everybody want to start one and what do you want people to feel when they where your clothes?

Sam: I think clothes are an extension of yourself. We don’t walk around the city telling everyone who we are and what we are about, so instead we express ourselves through fashion. That’s how we tell each other who we are in a way. By “we” I mean the general public. And, what better way to express exactly who you are then with your own line. I believe that’s behind alot of the interest in it. ……First and foremost I want people to feel satisfied about spending hard earned money on our gear. When they rock our stuff I want them to know they are wearing top quality product. I want them to feel like they have the illest designed shirt in whatever city or hood they stay in. and…obviously, I want them to feel like they need to keep checking on us for the new! Keep on coming back for more!

illRoots.com: So you guys print your own stuff. Explain the significance of doing everything in house?

Sam: We just really are very detail oriented. In this industry that would be impossible to control if we outsourced all our printing. I’m not knocking those that do, cuz outsourcing does have some advantages. But, me personally, and also my partners, we gotta touch it…get our hands on it…make sure the gear is right. When you outsource your printing, the print shop sends you samples you approve them and then usually that is the last contact with the apparel the brand has. So brands really have to trust the print shop with alot. Being that we have alot of printing experience we wanted to control that aspect.

illRoots.com: So the new season what was some of the influences of the new T’s

Sam: One of our partners has been spending alot of time in Chicago, and we have always been influenced by sports. So you will catch some Chi City flavor in the new line. Also, we are pretty heavy into movies and you will see some referenced in the line as well. Each new season is kinda like a new chapter in your own auto-biography. We express ourselves through art. Art on tees that is. The rest is up to the people to decipher.

illRoots.com: So as far as the colorways and so forth I saw that you are up on the sneaks and so forth will we see some colorways to match some popular sneaks soon?

Sam: Without a doubt. I am a pronounced sneaker junkie. I need counseling for sure. My partner Morg’s is as well. He doesn’t rock all his though…haha. But yeah…sneakers is in our blood. We will have some hot hook ups for ya’ll.

Sam: That’s what’s up!! “Hi my name is Sam and Im addicted to Air Max 1’s”

illRoots.com: Okay so T’s, Hoodies, Long sleeves, do you ever think we will see jeans, socks, shoes?You know Chaunce from head to toe.

Sam: Oh yeah. We are in the process of working alot of that out right now. We are gonna hit you with a fitted cap real soon. Then it’s onto denim. We plan to have the whole jump off.
